Our company has acquired high-resolution georadar surveys of the Sistine Chapel's trampling vaults, in order to re-construct the pavement stratigraphy.
In the museum areas located beneath the Sistine Chapel, geometric and typological surveys of the flooring and load-bearing structures were carried out using laser scanning. This process produced a high-precision point cloud, complete with chromatic information derived from panoramic scans.
Crack pattern surveys were conducted on the floor of the Sistine Chapel and on the vaults below.
Finally, mortar samples were taken from the masonry forming the vaults, and investigations of the masonry were performed, including endoscopic inspections and Windsor tests.
