Diagnostics and Assessment of the Condition of the Work

Structural inspections are used to assess the health, safety, and integrity of buildings and existing structures — through inspections, non-destructive testing, and monitoring, we identify any critical issues and provide a clear picture of the current conditions.

Sonic and Ultrasonic Investigations

Sonic and ultrasonic surveys are non-destructive tests based on the measurement of the propagation time of a mechanical pulse within walls or structural elements. The speed of the waves varies depending on the quality of the material and the possible presence of internal discontinuities: intact and compact materials show higher speeds, while defects and gaps generate slowness.

Remote Monitoring

Continuous structural monitoring allows to control time evolution of cracks, deformations and displacements. Sensors installed at critical points transmit a real-time data, allowing immediate assessments and setting of alarm thresholds.

Flat Jack Test

The flat jack test is a technique used to determine the stress state, deformability and resistance of the masonry.

Thermography

Thermographic surveys, based on infrared acquisitions, highlight anomalies that are not detectable in the visible spectrum. They are useful for identifying moisture infiltration, detachments, masonry discontinuities beneath plaster, thermal bridges, and for building energy assessments.

High Resolution Georadar

Georadar (GPR) is a non-destructive geophysical methodology that allows you to obtain 2D and 3D sections of the investigated structures, using high frequency electromagnetic waves. Analysis of the return times of the reflected waves from the dielectric interfaces allows to identify structures, discontinuities, gaps, utilities, and variations in materials.

Sclerometric Test

The sclerometric tests provide qualitative indications on the resistance of concrete and wood.

Pacometric Test

The pacometric survey identifies the position of the reinforcements in concrete and estimates the thickness of the iron cover. It is often a prerequisite for other tests.

Mortar Investigation

The mortars, especially the historical ones, are taken and analyzed from the chemical-mineralogical and physical-mechanical point of view. The characterization allows to understand the structural performance and the original construction techniques, supporting compatible and non-invasive restoration interventions.

Core Drilling

Core drilling on concrete and masonry allows the collection of samples to be subjected to mechanical tests or to physical and chemical-mineralogical analysis.

Load Test

Load tests evaluate the strength and deformability of structural elements. The loads are applied gradually, while dedicated sensors record movements. Fundamental in testing to verify the coherence between theoretical and real behavior.

Pull-Out Test

The pull-out test is a non-destructive technique to estimate the compression resistance of concrete. It measures the force needed to extract a standard metal dowel fixed by an hydraulic jack.

Pull-Off Test

The pull-off allows to estimate the direct traction resistance of mortars, concretes and surface protection systems, subjecting a metal disc glued to the surface to controlled traction.

Videoendoscopy

Structural endoscopy allows direct observation through micro-cameras inserted into cracks or small holes. The survey allows to evaluate textures, gaps, degrades and conditions of the non-visible parts.

Reinforcement Bar Testing

The reinforcement bars are analyzed in the laboratory through chemical, physical, and mechanical tests, as well as on-site.

Windsor Test

The Windsor test estimates the resistance of concrete and mortar by measuring the penetration of a metal pin fixed with controlled energy.

Carbonation Test

Carbonation test determines the depth of the carbonated layer in concrete by applying phenolphthalein.

Vibration Monitoring

Vibration monitoring evaluates the dynamic response of buildings and infrastructure.

Magnetic Test

The survey is based on the deviation that magnetic field lines, induced in a material, undergo in the presence of a discontinuity

Liquid Penetrant Testing

The method is based on the penetration of a liquid with certain characteristics of capillary, viscosity, wetability and density within a discontinuity emerging on the surface of an element.

Ultrasonic Test

The waves emitted, passing through the material, are reflected by obstacles or discontinuity, the reflected signals allow to estimate the size, depth and type of defects and/or discontinuity, even in depth on materials and welding.

Hardness Test

The hardness of steels is measured as the ratio between the force exerted and the surface of the the test imprint.

Thickness Gauge Test

the ultrasonic thickness gauge emits ultrasonic pulses which, crossing the material, are reflected from the opposite surface and detected by the probe.

Torque Measurement

The test consists of measuring, by means of a torque wrench, the torque of a bolt or other threaded connections, allowing to evaluate whether the element is locked to the right torque.

Sampling of Bolts and Structural Steel Components

The tests allow the extraction of samples to be subjected to laboratory testing.
