Geognostics

Geognostic surveys are the main direct method to investigate the subsoil. They allow the analysis of geological and geotechnical characteristics through the through core sampling, the execution of in-hole tests, the execution of tests in the borehole (geotechnical, geophysical and hydrological) and sampling for laboratory analysis. The boreholes can also be used for the installation of sensors for monitoring groundwater and inclinations

Penetrometric Test

Penetration tests consist of driving a conical tip either by hammering (dynamic tests) or at a constant speed (static tests), allowing the estimation of the main geotechnical parameters of the soil.

Pressuremeter Test

The pressure test measures the deformability and resistance of soils and soft rocks through the controlled expansion of a cylindrical probe in the borehole. The data obtained (limit pressure and pressuremeter modulus) allow the mechanical behavior of the investigated materials to be assessed.

Inclinometric Monitoring

Inclinometer measurements allow monitoring of horizontal ground movements along the depth through a probe inserted into a guide tube. The analysis of changes over time makes it possible to identify movements and the depths of sliding surfaces. We use both manual and automatic systems with remote control.

Load Test

The plate load test allows to evaluate the deformability and bearing capacity of the soil by applying progressive loads on a circular plate and measuring induced settlements.

Marchetti Seismic Flat Dilatomer

The DMT test involves vertically inserting a blade-shaped testing instrument into the ground using static thrust, expanding a circular membrane located on one side of the instrument with pressurized gas, and measuring the pressures corresponding to two predetermined levels of membrane deformation. The seismic module allows the S-wave velocity profile to be obtained with depth.

Vane Test

The Vane Test determines the undrained cohesion of soft cohesive soils by the controlled rotation of a four-wing paddle. It provides both the undrained shear strength and the residual strength of the soil after remolding.

Flat Jack Test

The test with flat jacks determines the tensional state and the elastic module of the rock by inserting a jack in an open crack and bringing it back to the original condition. It is used in tunnels and excavations to evaluate the mechanical behaviour of the rock cluster.
